- My little brother and my new Buff Brahma, isn't she cute? She keeps falling asleep and sneezing herself awake, it is so cute!

I have a trio of Larry and Mark Peterson LF Light Brahmas and I'm getting chicks now. What will happen if I cross a good typey, nice head, U tail, bantam cockerel or rooster to some LF hens? I know other breeds you can cross bantam to LF. Will I just get large bantams?

I've noticed with mine that if the chicks have a roost supplied to them-they will get on them-they are pretty high up too. The parents..not a chance..I had 3 different sized roosts in their pens and the only one they used is the one they could literally step down from. One of my girls actually prefers it to lay her eggs off of!

Everyday Id find an egg under the roost. It was 3 inches high! Today...is a big day as they got their new home delivered yesterday. I will not put roosts in there higher than 3 inches. But they now get a 20 x 20 ft run and 7 x 14 coop- instead of their 14 x 14 inside barn coop. I brought them outside everyday into a portable fenced play pen so they can be out eating bugs and getting sun on grass-what a chore that was!

Thats funny. I have a bantam buff that drops her egg from the roost sometimes. Its about 10 inches high with deep shavings underneath.

I don't know what the result might be. Why would you want to do that with Peterson birds?

I don't know, I was just woundering. Do you know any good light brahama bantam breeders in Iowa? I'd like to get a pair or trio.

Dee Mejstrik is the disrict director for Iowa(distict 5). Her contact information is under the "officers" heading on our website. She lives in Iowa and I'm sure she could point you in the right direction. There will be lots of high quality Light Bantams for sale at the Crossroads show this October. Fall is when birds are usually avaliable. You can follow the link to the American Brahma Club site in my sig line. If you are not already a member, we would love to have you!
