His crowing would be a good indicator of sex. Bantam Brahmas do tend to crow very early.

Tim

Thanks Tim, I was just hoping it was a noicey pullet, but in my heart have known that its a roo for several weeks because of that comb and then the waddles came in. I just sold my Cuckoo Marans roo yesterday and wonder if that put my Brahma as head roo so he decided to crow about it! Thanks again for a reply.

sorry for the double post!

My guess is that the middle one is female, last one probably is too. Need a better picture on first but i would say roo. Dont put too much trust in my opinion though . Last year i bought what should have been 6 pullets. At 5 months i would have sworn i had 2 roos and 4 gals. Sold rhe dominant roo and a month later i had all roosters! No combs or tails developed until the boss left. No expert here.

I was wondering what the experts think of my young cockerel. He is only seven months and already a big as my full grown orpington rooster.

The first thing that catches my eye is he looks to be split silver/gold. Note the brassiness in the saddle. Other than that his coloration/pattern seem to be ok.

Kind of hard to tell much head details in these photos, but his comb looks like it may be a bit wonky.

Again may be the photos, but personally, I would like to see a bit more leg, and/or a little more upright stance

Thanks big medicine for the input. My two silver laced hens look better I think.Unfortunately he is my only brahma rooster to work with.

Big Med,
A while back you said that one time you had introduced a chick that had recently been vaccinated for some disease, and it infected the entire flock, because it was a live vaccine, is that right?
Here's my question; I bought chicks vaccinated for Marecks, and now want to hatch a few eggs. If I don't have the stomach to vaccinate, will those chicks infect the hatched eggs? I guess my question really is, is Marecks a live vaccine also?
Thanks for any info at all.
Vicki

edit: this question is for any one who might have some info.
