I got my chickens for the fun of raising them and having fresh eggs. talk about faults the little black chick I thought was going to be a black cochin turned into a lt brahma. she would never breed show quality but shes beautiful to me, I love the other colors though, I never realised how obsessed you could get with chickens, my dads already telling me not to become a horder, good thing I have my dh or I would probably be over run with chickens, I was planning on having 2 byc not 4, at least I'll know what I want when it becomes time to replace these when they stop laying.

I breed Light, and Black Brahmas. This year i probably hatched three dozen Lights out of one trio. And a dozen blacks out of two pairs and a trio. My origional Blacks were bought at the 2009 national in Ventura, Ca. i bought the best trio of blacks from the show. And my Lights are new... i had some before but i was told they were no good... no problem so i got a new trio from Spence and Williams. i will post some pictures of a pullet i hatched from my light trio.

Good type, nice wide head(especially if thats a pullet). Good tail, wide at base-resembles inverted "U". Coverts are really tough to get perfect on the columbian pattern. I have lights and buffs from Spence/Williams in my birds also. There are some photos of my birds further back the thread.(Page 60 one of my better Buffs) My buffs are a little ahead of my lights right now. Are you an ABC member? Have you checked out our website?

Could you post some photos of your blacks?
