I thought that both of these were pullets, but now I'm beginning to think that one may be a cockerel and that the cockerel may have vulture hocks. These two are 5 1/2 weeks old. Anyone have any thoughts?

I am guessing cockerel and pullet!

I haven't seen enough vulture hocks to comment but would like to learn more so will be watching for others' opinions.

What do you guys use on their legs if they seem a little dry? Something that doesnt gum up feathers too much!! No mites this is a bantam buff

A lightweight oil such as body oil, baby oil, mineral oil, olive oil...could even use lotion if you rub it in. You want an oil that the leg will absorb rather than staying on top of the scales and gunking up the foot feathers.

I know these aren't the best quality (from my first post here!), but I thought I would post just a couple of updated pictures for the fun of it! Yes, they have VH, and they aren't perfect, but they are mine, and they are such great birds. Have 1 suspect cockerel in the group, maybe 2, but hoping for 2.1 ratio of pullets to cockerels (or 3.0!). If there is any thought on gender here, than great! If not, that's okay too, I love these goofy little chickies anyway. They are bigger than they look in the photo, I keep track of weights, and these are about 3/4 of a kilo already! I can entirely see why people get so hooked on these big chooks.
