I order an assortment of brahmas eggs last year and I now have a dark Brahma roo with 2 light hens and 1 buff hen.

Hens have been laying for a couple of months and the buff is now glued to her cubby hole on the eggs.

Curious as to what colors I may see/get.

Any ideas?

Sorry, resubmitting my previous question

I keep getting the answer "Brahmas" or "chicks".

I have seen other posts talking about how mixing colors changes with the offspring. I am curious so I know whether I need to get second Brahma rooster.

I am not sure but am curious also...I have buff/light cross but they are still fluff balls so I can't tell yet. I think I heard somewhere that they will be sex-linked but i can't remember for sure. Someone with more experience should clue you in pretty quick!

Not sure for you JDchicks.... sorry. For you Bird Lady I can tell you about yours. If you put buff over light you get sex linked chicks. Females will be buff colored and the males will be a combo of the two. If you did light over buff you get light hens and the mixed males. I haven't got my buff over light chicks yet but apparently putting one of the mixed males over your cross hens will give you every color. Buff, light hens/roos and then the mixed males. I *think* dark mixed with the either light or buff just gives you smutty looking color.

Hi Brahma folks, I have a question about varieties. Do you ever mix varieties or do you keep them in pens by specific variety of color?

I really believe it depends on if your purpose for keeping them. If pets/eggs I would say not necessary. If breeding in general maybe. If your wanting to breed very specific traits and or only say light brahmas then yes I would keep them separated.
Of course I can't say for sure as I have a mixed flock for eggs.

I just set about 17 eggs, I have 4 Roos a Buff Laced, Gold Laced, Silver Laced and a Dark. The Dark is not breeding yet but all the other boys are. ILuckily my girls all lay in different spots so I know who is who :) My Lite girls I haven't collected any of their eggs for the bater. But my 17 eggs are from the hens that are 2 Gold Laced, 1 Silver Laced, 1 Buff, 1 Buff Laced and 1 Dark. I was able to actually get some of the eggs right after they were laid so I know which color they were from. The Gold Laced Roo was the busiest fellow then the buff laced and the silver. So not sure what I'll get. Hope I at least have some fertile ones in the batch. Would love to get a few partridge variety. Been shopping around trying to find some.
