Brahma Thread

Hi guys, I'm new to brahmas and hatched four several weeks ago. I'm only keeping a couple and have people pressingly interested in the extras but I need to know who is male and who is female first. So I took pictures of them this afternoon and wondered if anyone here might know better than I do and can give me some feedback. I have my guesses. I think I have 2 of each but I hope you guys can tell me what you think, please.

They are four weeks old today and sorry about the blur, it's rainy and dark here and they don't sit still! The two on the right are indeed a little lighter buff but for some reason they all look the same buff-ness in the pictures below. I'm guessing that is irrelevant to their gender but thought I'd point it out anyway.

So from left to right, let's label them #1, 2, 3 and 4

Not exactly sure what you are dealing with here. The non yellow legs, and single combs tend to make think they are mixed, not pure Brahmas.

Sorry, guess I posted in the wrong thread.

The small, local hatchery sold them as buff brahma eggs and I hatched them so that's all I know. I will go elsewhere.

no its ok feel free to stay .. i think the lack of voice sometimes make it seem like people are being rude or mean when they are not ...

It's okay, I didn't think it was mean. I just didn't know they weren't brahmas and now that I know, I won't post in the brahma thread again. I might contact the breeder though.

Not putting your birds down, or trying to run you off. Just pointing out a couple traits that you would not expect to find on a Brahma.

Wow.We should all feel as badly as I do. Someone tried to start another thread, called Backyard Brahmas, just for those of us who don't own a true to breed Brahma, but still love our cheap imitations. Unfortunately, it hasn't caught on. We come to this thread to learn more, and it is always the same result. I don't know where else to post, but I assure you, there's been more than once I've left feeling pretty stupid.

Didn't see anyone being mean, there is a distinct difference between "oh this hatchery brahma is a bit on the small side" and "It's pattern in feathers isn't quite correct" versus things like vulture hocks, wrong comb type, entirely wrong leg color, not feathered legs etc. There are show faults and then faults that make the bird not even a brahma, shouldn't people know the difference? I feel bad for people that want a breed and then get swindled with crossbreds or something that isn't even recognizable as the breed.
