African Greys and Amazon-sized parrots live approximately 60 years. Macaws and Cockatoos live about 80 years on average. The smaller the parrot, the less longer it's lifespan. You can buy an African Grey Congo for about $700 at a bird fair or expo (much higher in a store) and an African Grey Timneh for a bit less.

wow that is a really long time. I will have to look up pictures of them they sound lile some interesting birds. Sorry about getting completley off topic, nack to brahmas

Not to butt in, but if I may suggest.....look into adopting or rescuing a bird instead of buying. And If ya get one....plan on putting it in your Living Will!! Ha

Looks like bad case of scaley leg mite that got infected. I'd recommend soaking the legs in warm water with an antibacterial soap and/or povidone iodine. Scrape off any scaley gunk that is loosened. Then drip ivermectin on the areas that are scaley or swollen.
How do I mix the iodine soak? I have a bottle of "Gentle Iodine Wound Spray" with active ingredient being 1% Titratable Iodine. I would like to try soaking his legs in this, but not sure how to do it.

This may have been asked already but I can't seem to find it. What would I get if I crossed a light brahma roo with a black australorp. Colors? Sex-linked? better egg production?? I love my light brahma's but would love to get better egg production. Thankyou in advance Scott

I have several of those crosses but i had a dark Brahma and the Birds are HUGE dark eggs and wonderful i think you get more eggs then the Brahma and less but bigger then the austrolorp

Sounds cool you wouldn't happen to have any pics or could describe colors. Just love the white bird that looks like you wiped dirty hands down her head. This increase in egg production would be great. Also wondering how long the hens are good layers for. Both of the pure breeds and the crosses.
