I'll keep quiet. I really want to make that one. I need to hatch some females around the first of May or so. Don't they have a trio class at the O.N.? The only time I have ever shown a trio was at Crossroads. That was a long trip...Ohio is even farther.

Okay I have a dilemna I am hoping you can help me with. I have 4 boys all 6 months and I want to keep one to be a second rooster since my first one is getting older. Which one would you keep if it were you.



Blue Boy about 8 pounds and very nice tempered


Yellow boy very nice about the same weight.


Red and Green boys.


It's very hard to choose. They are all very typy and nice. All about the same weight and also very nice with the ladies. I only have enough coop space for two roosters in the Brahma pen or I would keep them all. I want to keep the one that best represents Light Brahmas and also has the characteristics I am looking for in my meat birds since any I don't keep for breeding go to the soup pot.

Any ideas?

Right out of the box ,I don't like how green holds his tail. Although he might have the best head/comb of the bunch.

Really need several more photos from various angles before I would feel comfortable enough to take an educated guess.

Blue looks like he is the only one with a correct back line. But I agree with Big Medicine about needing more angles. Honestly though...none of them have the correct pattern, there is no black in the saddle on any of them. Look long and narrow like hatchery type birds, but they're relatively young so maybe could still fill out.

the little buff that I think is a Cockerel (there are 3 suspects i'm watching out of the 6)


the heaviest patterned of the 3 oddball babies. i think all 3 of them are females.
the brahmas are much slower feathering and growing than the Marans that are a week older, seen in the top pic
