Brahma Thread

Hi everyone, I have a question if anyone might have an answer. :)

I have assorted eggs in my bator right now, seven of them being Brahma. They are developing so much slower than my other eggs, in fact today is the FIRST day im able to see any sort of signs of life/veining, whereas in the others it has been clear for days.

Even eggs that were set two days after the brahma are more advanced.

Now, I think I've read Brahma are slower than some other chickens to develop after hatching.. Can this translate to incubation also? I have never dealt with brahma or their eggs. Just curious.

Thanks!

Tell you what I generally do.

Hold eggs no longer than 10 days, rotating them daily, prior to putting them in the incubator.

Candle them around 10 days in, pitch any clear ones.

Candle again at 19 days, pitch any quitters. Move to hatcher.

Remove chicks. After day 25.pitch any eggs left.

I rarely get chicks out on day 21.

Here are my two day olds. The last one is a barnyard mix, but since we were taking family pictures I didn't want her to feel left out.

My first bator hatch, it went pretty well, I think. I learned a few things but overall had a pretty good hatch from the Brahmas. If I'm doing the feather sexing right, looks like 3 females, 1 male for the brahmas. I'm happy with that!

[/IMG] just wondering what the brahma board thought about my young rooster. Also wondering if I breed him to blue laced gold hens what percentage would be blue laced gold chicks?
