I'm desperately trying to find some good quality Brahma chicks! I like the Buff or Light, either bantam or standard. I'm in Atlanta, but willing to travel up to 2 hours for some. I have never hatched eggs myself. . . so I've love to find some chicks.
Not a lot of things impress me very much, but I have to say - those birds that belong to big medicine are unbelievably beautiful. Striking, awesome, spectacular...truly they are.
A few days ago I was out in the yard and my Brahma hopped in my lap just to chill ... she started a full-body groom up there too. When I had to go check on the other girls I convinced her to get on my arm and ride around there until I sat back down. Love their sweet personality!!!
Actually, it's hard for me to say - one minute I think the silver laced cochins are spectacular - then my eyes start spinning around when I see those blue laced ones, then the partridge ones...I just can't make up my mind..I love them all. I guess I'm like most of these chicken-loving people here at BYC. You should be really proud of your accomplishments in bird breeding!
I finally have the silver laced birds to the point , that I am for the first time, allowing some breeding stock to leave my place. Hopefully other breeders will continue with these birds and get them accepted by the APA.
The blue laced birds will require a little time to improve type, foot feathering, and get the comb set.
I can't say I know anything about chicken quality...I could never obtain the knowledge about chicken quality that you have...I don't have enough years left, but if I had known many years ago how incredibly great chickens are and what incredibly great things can be done through careful breeding, my bonnet might be hanging in a different place. Oh well...maybe in my next life. Keep up the great work, so when I see one of those beautiful silver-laced birds my mouth will fly open and I'll say - that must be one of big medicine's birds - blow me down! Good luck with your future endeavors on making fancy and beautiful chickens.
