chic-n-farmer, as I often say-I am entirely capable of being wrong. I like to look at specific areas on a bird. It also helps to know the particular birds age. Don't be afraid to voice an opinion! None of us here have all the answers.

Sorry your Buffs got wiped out. What line were they from? Who are you getting your darks from, bantam or standard? I hope to add a line of dark bantams eventually, I just want to improve them to be more Brahma like.

A roo I used to have before he got taken by a fox:

I have another BC roo now but don't have a very good pic of him. I also have a couple Blue Columbian Brahma X hens who are also very pretty.

That's cool, but I was thinking the white in a light brahma be blue, and the black be black. Those are really cool too, though!

So I think I have a Brahma, though she's clean legged. No takers in the ID section, so I thought I'd throw this out here and see what yall think?

The buffs I had were Bill Bowman lines. The original owner was big in shows. She retired and sold her flock to the people I got them off of. They were moving cross country and the fertility on the roo was getting iffy.... so I traded Sweetgrass turkeys for them. I think the last owners would have packed them along if the fertility had been better. I was just happy to have the beautiful birds!

The dark brahma chicks are from a Ideal hatchery. I promised my son that I would get him bantam darks. These will do for now. If he wants better ones I'll look for them in the spring.

Snowhunter, don't think that's a brahma at all. Completely different shape to my own, never minding the clean legs. Looks like you'll have a nice bird there though all the same...

I dunno what she/he is, at all.. the closest color similar I could find was a brahma, so that was my only guess

I'm still new at this... so, guess I'll keep looking

The Buff Columbian color is not exclusive to Brahmas. That bird looks to have a single comb also.

Your bantam looks like some kind of Buff Columbian maybe someone was working on O.E. and this could be one of them.
