I dunno what she/he is, at all.. the closest color similar I could find was a brahma, so that was my only guess

I'm still new at this... so, guess I'll keep looking

Your bantam looks like some kind of Buff Columbian maybe someone was working on O.E. and this could be one of them.

Hmm, it shouldn't be a bantam, it was part of a Standard size SR I got in July

h: She's the same size as all of the other chicks that are of standard size

sorry, I don't mean to clog up yalls Brahma thread

I didn't read that the chick was a hatchery bird, no telling what it might be as they throw just about anything in the mix.

I've never owned Brahmas, but I just rescued some bantam dark Brahmas. In their previous "home", they had been feather picked pretty bad, as you can see in the pics. They are from Sand Hill Preservation and were hatched sometime in June...not sure of an exact date. I really need some help sexing them. I've read through most of this thread and found out what each sex SHOULD look like, but my untrained eye sees both qualities in these chicks. Please help!

These boys are gonna have to go.

I was going to say they don't look like the 3 pullets I have. Mine are all penciled.
You always seem to have what I am looking for.

Again, I wish we lived closer to each other. I would take them off your hands.

I wish you were closer, too.

I really don't want to take these fellas to the auction on Monday. Their fate is pretty much sealed the moment I drive in with them.

The larger birds are the first birds I hatched out, and the black bird shown (4.5 months old) is without Vulture hocks. His feathers are properly rounded off at the shank...I'm working on hatching out more w/o the vulture hocks but he is the only one at the moment even though I have a buff hen for him that is also well bred and vulture hock free.
