Thanks SerenityNH and Miss Lydia.

Serenity, I'd love to see photos of your babies. Could you perhaps post some here? They do grow up so very quickly and change so much along the way. How many do you have?

Miss Lydia - do you also have Brahmas? I love seeing other people's birds! Please post photos.

Bigzio, that's a very impressive bird you have on your avatar!! If my boys end up looking like that I'll be well pleased! How old is he? What other Brahma do you have? Again, photos please! I live in Thailand and I picked these three up from a local petshop. The owner of the store has a farm where he is raising chickens. The original stock he brought in as fertile eggs from The Netherlands. I don't think he has been breeding these chickens for very long, maybe a year? That's as much of their background as I am able to find out. I'm guessing they are not hatchery birds but are from a private breeder in The Netherlands. But, I'm only guessing......anyone have any clues just by looking at them?

Also, can anyone tell me please, at what age should I add a nestbox for Matilda to start laying eggs? I don't want to add one too early and end up having her use it to sleep in.

Well, the boys are crowing to be let out to free-range - better go!

I have 10 chicks, 2 which are LB, they are 17 days old today. Here are some pics of my LB, Tulip and Iris. Tulip is developing EXTREMELY slow compared to everyone else, her feathers are barely popping through! She is healthy, the second largest of all the chicks so I think she's just a late bloomer

We were concerned that the hatchery made a mistake and didn't give us LB because they were so dark! But they have white feathers coming out so hopefully they will turn out nicely, either way they are wonderful

we just got him a couple weeks ago... he is just starting to get the nice, deep coppery colored feathers on his back, and the black in his hackles and tail are starting to get that nice blue-green sheen... I am anxious to see whay he will look like in another couple months

Okay, so I read another thread yesterday about tell tale signs that you have a Light Brahma Roo. The pictures looked a lot like my Tulip (see above pics) feathering out extremely slow compared to the female chicks. Is this a definite sign that I do have a roo on my hands? Or is it possible that Tulip is a she and is just growing VERY slow for some reason?
I know one thing having chickens definitely teaches you patience, too bad I'm a slow learner

v. cyr, how old is Rocky in these pictures? I am not exactly sure how old my crowing pullet, Ginger, is. Rocky looks at little older and more developed than Ginger. BTW Rocky is gorgeous! He will be one handsome roo!
