now, I thought that was a myth... like unicorns, and honest politicians...

Is everyone else's Brahmas molting as bad as mine are? All my birds over a year are shedding feathers all over the place...

No one's molting right now but my Shamos and Sussex. . .

Agreed with Sugar Sand Farm. I've little experience with breeding Brahmas, but Araucanas also have the fertility and vent clipping issues and needs, however, I find a good solution at least with mine is making sure the girls are bred at least once a day, and let that go daily for about a week, then set the eggs and see the fertility. I'm still breeding my girls once a day and have fertility at a nice, uncommon 100% - No vent clipping needed. But of course, if you have your females and males living together, my method won't necessarily work

I have been keeping my crew seperate since the end of May in anticipation of getting some of my hens in better condition for show season...the Boys look good too! Maybe all that pent up testosterone??? I just need to get through the Molting and I think I will be home free for the Inverness shows...

To the US Standard he's not a good Brahma (but still beautiful!) However in the UK I think that's a perfectly fine specimen (no expert!!) of a Partridge Brahma.

I'm assuming you're from Europe though. Partridge here is rare, and those legs are even more so.

EDIT - Ah, read the last post. Silly me.

Illia, why is he not a good brahma by the US standard?

Vulture hocks. I could be wrong though, but they look it, and I've yet to see a UK based Brahma without them. Also, I don't know what their standard calls for, but I find their Brahmas to have less of a good, wide, deep skull and more leg as well as a shorter back.

But, the OP is indeed from the UK.
