"I have only owned a few cornish just for fun but I have judged many. The one thing that I notice varies most from the standard on cornish is eye color. I cant tell you how many times I have seen cornish with near black eyes or red eyes. I think out of all the birds Ive judged I have only seen 4 cornish with proper pearl eyes and when I did it was rather stunning"

I just thought flyingmonkeypoop might be a judge because of this he posted on the Cornish thread. I was not discounting his opinion.

Tim, just my opinion... although some of us younger fanciers consider Jim our grandpa, and keep tabs... but i think Jim would be a great judge for the Brahmas. He has helped me with my birds a lot. He lives maybe 2 hours from me, which in Cali is quite close. It would be nice to meet you at Crossroads, plus i might have a couple brahmas there. We didnt hatch them early enough, so will only have maybe 3 or 4 out of the 55 we hatched.

The oldest cockerel is not too impressive but i like the pullet from that hatch. Ill have to get some pictures up sometime, but homework and sports are evening consuming so it could be a while.

I have never shown under Jim. His mother lives in Abilene, so he gets to visit his mother and Judge a chicken show! I hope he likes my birds..

I am "planning" on showing 35 Brahmas at Crossroads. My 14 year old son will be showing eight or so Dark Cornish Bantams. Hope to see you there.

I just realized that Phil Bartz wont be judging the junior brahmas. I hope Frank Harris will be doing the juniors as I am rather sure he raises bantam buffs?

We got Ch FL@ West Texas Fair today. I have won Ch FL several times with buffs. This is my first time ever with a light.

Joe, I'm not sure who wil judge Junior Brahmas. I have shown under Pat Malone before and I consider him a good Brahma Judge. I think Butch Gunderson is one of the Junior show judges also, he knows Brahmas too.

I have 3 new three week old chicks that I was hoping Brahma experts could help me to sex please? I know it's very early, maybe too early to tell much yet? Patience is such a hard thing to master LOL!

Anyway, I greatly respect the experience of others on this thread and I'd really appreciate you all giving me your opinions. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about this breed (and indeed chicken raising) and this forum is a valuable resource for us newbies. Thanks so much for the wisdom you all share here.

Chick A: This chick has feathers coming in down back and on chest

Chick B: This is the largest of the chicks. Has feathers coming in down back and on chest. The most feathered of all three.

Chick C: The smallest of the chicks. No visible feathers down back but can feel the spikey feather stubs. Feathers on chest too. This chick has the shortest tail.
