it said about the combs but no mentions of single combs? thats werid. i just emailed one of my freinds and he wrote back that 3 of his brahmas had single combs. purebred too! (he had one of those DNA things done too, which i thought was a waste of time!

)
and also as i said before. another 2 breeders in our area has single comb brahmas! now i'm confused!

she is a bantam. would weigh, ummmm. oh god. i wish i was at home, i could have weighed her. maybe. 4-5 kg. she would probably be half a foot or so tall.
since she isn't a pure brahma, what crosses would she have in her?

but as i said, what confuses me is the fact that three people i know of have some single combs!

Until recently my standard Dark Brahmas have pretty much been just pets and eggs, but when they started to go broody I decided I would pay a little more attention and see where it led me. As it turns out there seems to be enough interest in this breed in my area to continue breeding and selecting stock to improve the flock. This being said, can anyone direct me to information I can use to help me pick better breeding stock? I know there are “Pure Bred” birds out there, but I haven’t seen that there are so many SDBs to cause a great separation in hatchery VS show birds, and from what information I have read I feel like I have some really nice stock to work with. I would welcome any comments about the breed that will help me spot good and bad qualities.

Ah, bantam, well, then I don't know much on weights, etc on bantams in Aussie.

I really don't know what to tell you though but she doesn't look like a Brahma, and that single comb just isn't a Brahma trait.

As the single comb was probably the first style of comb on jungle fowl, it is in every chicken's DNA, no matter how deeply buried. I am not a professional breeder, but I have seen single combs pop up unexpectedly among my Ameraucanas (Another pea-comb breed). Every other Ameraucana on the place or that they come in contact with has a nice little pea comb, and the feathering and all other traits look nice, but some poor awkward teenage bird sprouts a single comb.

It sound like the three Acquaintences have a strain of Brahma where the single comb pops up frequently. These birds should not be used for breeding if you wish to perpetuate individuals that approach a standard of perfection that calls for pea-combs only.
