All my Brahmas and even all crosses from the Brahmas that I have end up with pea combs, so I am guessing that the single comb is recessive?

Are these flocks related? Do they, or have they, traded stock between themselves ?

yes they are related, yes they have traded stock between themselves. but never mix them.

what do you mean by recessive?

I thought these birds being related might be a possible explaination how a similiar fault might get spread to different flocks.

Answering the question on single combs - Yes, the single comb is recessive to the Pea comb. That is, if a bird has a copy for a single comb and a copy for the pea comb, it will look like a pea comb. If a bird has both copies for single comb, it will appear to have a single comb. If it has both copies for pea, it will have a pea comb.

So, in order for you to have this issue, someone had to have crossed a single combed bird to a proper pea combed Brahma, then crossed the single comb in AGAIN, then continued breeding for that trait. (instead of just one oops)

My new trio of light brahmas. The lady I bought them from said they were cochin ( not that I wouldn't of mind) but when I saw them I knew they were brahmas. I've had them for almost a month now and their starting to warm up to me. I guess when I got them they had never been outside

so they were kinda scared but are use to it now. I think their still young the rooster Fernando has started to crow. I love brahmas first time owning them
