I went to the Lucasville show and was SORELY tempted to purchase a light Brahma trio that was for sell by Tom Shepherd. I decided against it...but they were pretty little things!

My Brahmas always did well in confinement. Where did you read they didn't?

My fat and lazy girls are the broodiest ever, though. Contented big fat mommas who just want to stay at home and sit on eggs.

Thank you for all the responses - i had just noticed this in two or three books i have read- Rodriguez- i saw that same trio - sooo beautiful - was tempted myself! LOL
The book did describe them as the " Buddhist Monk" of the chicken world but did mention they preffered not to be confined in runs etc -

Birds do not have to be show quality to look well cared for, healthy, friendly, and a credit to their owner.

Just thought I'd share something fun that happened while at a swap this weekend. Way back when I was working on partridge brahmas using partridge rocks and dark brahmas. Well I gave the project birds to a girl who crossed them with some cochin x cornish mixes and went on from there. Well I was at a swap and saw the family with partridge brahma bantams! They said they used the girls I gave them ages ago and the first accidental cross with their cochin x cornish rooster gave them good looking birds. They have been working with them by crossing them with dark brahmas, dark cornish, and partridge cochin bantams and have some decent looking birds now. Also at the swap I saw some project birds that were what I had in mind when I mentioned cuckoo/barred brahmas awhile back. They had crossed a barred cochin with a light brahma then crossed that to a barred rock and ended up with some decent looking barred/cuckoo brahma looking birds. The folks that had them just had them around for farm birds but liked the combo of the breeds. I wish I would have had my camera

I saw Wade Hilker's Brahmas at the RMFF show last weekend. His Buff hen was reserve FL in the 1st show. His birds both buff and lights are quite impressive.
