OK, I have to post pics, since I have been sucked in by these awesome birds!
My original flock (first 4 pics) are hatchery, but I love em!
The Partridge I got at Crossroads this weekend! SOOOO happy with them!

And my Partridges - I got a trio, but one of the hens was NOT having a good feather day!

Loving this breed!

They are beautiful. I have one light brahma rooster baby (2 weeks old). I'd like a couple brahma hens too one day soon.

Hi Mrsfoote!

They are LF Buffs from Mt. Healthy Hatchery, near Cincinnati. I don't like the whole shipping thing, so I picked them up the day they hatched (about an hour drive for me). They're not show quality, and are much smaller than the show birds I saw at Crossroads - almost half the size! They were hatched March 13th, so mine are coming on 9 months old, and the pullets average about 4 pounds.

You can imagine my surprise when I picked up the same-age partridge pullet I bought this weekend - she is 8 pounds! And the hen I chose to complete the trio is 9lbs!

Really love this breed. I have 16 pullets, all laying beautiful light brown to medium brown, medium to large-size eggs. I get about 7 eggs per day, since they lay abut every other day. They started laying the end of August, so they were 5.5 months old. Typical for hatchery chicks, as I am told, to start laying sooner.

Have a great day!

Holy Cow Becca,

No kidding smaller , I asked because I'm having a bit of a dilemma. I have this beautiful buff brahma rooster....just turned 1 and already weighs 10 1/2 lbs....came from good stock....can't find any ladies for him. He is sooo much bigger than our mixed flock of ladies he tears up feathers just because of his overwhelming size.

She's hanging in there, thanks for asking. She has so many lacerations. We are cleaning them daily, she's on baytril and pain meds. She was standing a bit yesterday. She's getting every good healthy treat there is!
