Hmmmm.. ..... and no brown in the wings. Maybe I need to buy some hatching eggs from you or G&A. Get myself a nice clean rooster.
I will keep that in mind. Looking to shut down the incubator after the New Years Hatch, then start back up in March.

Got some eggs from a lady in Florida in Feb of this year. Pretty happy with the birds with the exception of the tails. Would like them to be wider like the good large lights. Will be working to improve them. Project involves crossing onto lights and might take several years. We will still keep this line in tact though. The Silver Penciled pattern is VERY attractive I think.

Do you have the Lights yet, or are you going to wheedle some of those from Chad's that were at Shawnee?????

No problem I will start keeping them penned for breeding for a couple months probably March - May or June and sell the brahma eggs during that time - or I might trade with you Bhep, I know you have some very nice birds I'd like to add as eye candy to my layer flock

...I will have to move my 2 sneak girls out of there though, a white EE who lays brown eggs just like the brahmas and the brahma/icelandic cross girl... Oh more pens - so much fun.

I need to get new pictures of Hawk. The pics I posted were back in August or Sept. - he's MUCH bigger now, and close to being fully filled out I think, he still looks kinda gangly in the pictures the more I look at them.

Question about Brahmas. This is my first year with them although I have found some older birds and am loving them. Right now I only have Light Brahmas but I did see a post where someone was talking about breeding different colors together and getting a different color chicks through breeding. Can you do this. I love my lights but boy the Darks are nice and so are the Buffs lol.

Do you keep yours separate by color or run them together?

Usually you'd keep them separate - unless they are just pets/layers. If you want to breed you'll seperate your colors.

I think you seen Tim's comment about breeding whites in with his darks to improve their tails...Yes you can cross colors, but to get good quality birds of proper coloring it will take him a few generations to get the qualities to where he wants them to be. It all depends on what you are wanting, pets and layers or birds who meet Standard, or if you just want eye candy from a certain color...

To get completely new colors (the gold, buff, or silver laced patterns) can sometimes take out crossing to other breeds to get the color and selective breeding for many many generations to get them to Standard and of proper true coloring (true as in parents creating offspring with the same color/pattern as themselves reliably)

If you want darks I'd suggest buying eggs or chicks from someone
