SanctusPullus, if it has no leg feathering---it's not a Brahma. Down color on a hatchery bird is really not a good indicator.

So what do you think it could be then? Is it a mutt?

The female chicks should be buff. The males will likely look like lights with some brassy/yellow showing in the neck and saddle feathers. Welcome.I'm new to this site and have 26 chickens. What would the chick look like if you bred a buff brahma rooster over a light brahma hen. Also i have a buff japanese bantam rooster named Tokyo to get rid of. my brahma rooster won't let him get off the roost. If anybody would like him let me know. my grampie wants to sell him along with my mille fluer hen at the auction near scatacoke fair in new York.
Thank you, and welcome as well.Hello Everyone
I am new to the Brahma Forum
I only have a few LF Dark Brahma's right now
they are hard to find up here in Canada without having to get Hatchery Stock shipped in and that is expensive. LOL
are there any other members from Canada on here?
Big Medicine Love all your colors wish there was some way to get some of them up in the north.
Reading all the post so really enjoying it.
Thanks for having me
Can you take a couple close ups of it's head, front, top, and side, to give us an idea of what type of comb it's sporting ? Might give us some possibilities.
Thanks for your information. It will help a lot when it comes time to hatch. Do you know how to post pics on the site. If you could let me know, it would be a great help. The female chicks should be buff. The males will likely look like lights with some brassy/yellow showing in the neck and saddle feathers. Welcome.
