I am pretty sure Darlene's Large lights are from Bill's line also. I don't know about Ron's, I did not know he had large lights.

As too the pictures you posted, need to see better shot of the feet/foot feathering to have a better idea of of what you have there. I see nothing that would make me want to get rid of this guy yet. Looks to have a nice comb. My cockerels (large fowl) go through such a prolonged period of ugly gangliness that I am convinced every year, that something has gone terribly wrong, and I will have no males worth keeping. Patience is key, let them grow into that frame, and see how they turn out. I'll defer to Tim as to the finer points of the columbian pattern.

I would not worry about the black on the back. that will be covered by hackles as he matures. I like the buff on the leading edge of the primaries to run the length of the feather. Might be a little narrow at the tail. two months is just too young to tell much about the big birds. I read an article in the brahma handbook by one of the Petersen brothers. He stated it takes a Large Brahma TWO full years to be completey mature. Gary can tell more about the big birds, as I am mostly a Bantam man(a few large darks)......the big birds are extremely slow to mature. Patience is important if thats what you are going to mess with. I have Bantams at the height of their bloom at 5.5 months. I have had some buff bantam females lay before five months. Big difference!

Oh Ron doesn't have lights. Last I knew he was trying to find some to make his buffs larger. I will get a better picture of the chickens feet. This is the only one that has too much feathering. For right now I was thinking of taking one of my lighter hens with less foot feathering and mate them. I will definetly be keeping two birds that have not enough black and not as much feathering on the legs.

I would love to have foot feathering like that on some of my project birds. Seems to be harder to breed this up, than have it too heavy. Look at how many hatchery birds have the center toe properly feathered, not many. The problem I have encountered with trying to increase foot feathering in some projects is that it seems the best foot feathered birds seem to be linked, to some degree, with vulture hocks (when dealing with projects with Cochin blood in the backround).

This should not be an issue in your bird, and I would not hesitate to use him.

Do you guys think this bird should be kept as a breeder? Show bird? Seems to me like it would be more of a breeder than a show bird. Would it be a bad idea to breed it to its sisters?

Way to early for me to tell what you have there yet. What did the birds they are out of look like ?

I'll post picture probably at like 7 of the parents. Bare in mind that one of the possible parents did die on me.ETA I got them.

This is the hen her tail is wider than that but I don't know why it was like that at the time. The beak has gotten much better. That was my fault for keeping them indoors too often. She weighs 6 pounds eleven ounces.
Other two hens.
The one on the left is the one that passed away. I have to get a decent picture of the other hen later I thought I had one on my computer but I don't. The other hen who has the blurred face in the picture only weight 5 pounds 7 ounces.

I wanted to show off the Blue/Gold Partridge Brahmas I just acquired. They are Dan Powell creation and at this moment can't speak to how they will breed. I'm hoping they will kick into gear and start laying consistently. I'll get more pics this weekend.

The big guy weighs in at 13.2 lbs and the girls at 10 lbs. He's a bit short for my liking and the blue hen's feathering needs some work, but overall I think it might be a good start. Critiques welcome

Those birds are beautiful and I wish my hens weighed 10 pounds.
