Nikkipar, you have to be careful moving her. She could decide to stop. You could put wire around her with enough room for her to get up for food and water. If you do move her, it might be best to move her then cover her so she cannot see for a day. This will settle her down after the move.

Thanks,What is the best way to move her. The box is not moveable.... something to remedy in the future.... But should I just take a tote in there.... pick out the eggs, then put her on top and move the whole thing?
What I have done is prep a nest where you want her to set, do your best to fashion a nest bowl (for lack of a better world) of straw (or bedding of choice) about the proper size to fit her. Go in at night, with as little light as possible, gently grab the hen, put her eggs in a basket or carton. Putting the warm eggs in new nest, gently place her on eggs. Again the darker the better, hopefully her setting instict will overpower her urge to go back to old nest site. I agree a dark cover over her new nest for the first day or so could not hurt, as long as it does not overheat her.

If she does take to the new nest and you are unsure about her eggs, give her a day or two and then switch some fresh eggs under (again ussually at night) to make sure they all hatch at the same time. While it may seem easier to switch eggs when you initially move her, those warm eggs will help her settle down on the new nest.

I think the dark, quiet, and less commotion helps your odds.

Here she is....The Brahma or Not? question is being posed
Looks to me to be a patterned bird, penciled, laced, etc., but I think I'm seeng a single comb there. So if I had to make a guess, I would put my money on a laced, or partridge Cochin. If it is pea combed, then yeah looks Brahma.

Here are a few of my GLB and BLB, not sure of I should worry about the one in the first two pictures. Is she just feathering in or losing her feathers?

Might just be the later feathering that cockerels do on their shoulders, same as little buff laced cockerel on the right.

I'll defer to someone who knows more about them than me, but it almost looks like maybe splash under that dominant white. Are the dark feathers blue, any in the tail ?

New to chicken raising but I would say she has a pea comb...single comb that comes up with little balls that look like peas. She is maturing very slowly compared to the others but she is about four days younger as well. Her wings are much smaller with not much feathering yet and she has kept her chipmunk appearance more completely so far. Another poster had commented that Brahmas are slow to mature but I don't know about Cochins.
