Brahmas~What can ya tell me?

We started with Lt Brahmas and added Buffs and Darks a few months later. We LOVE this breed. My son, who is 6, is out with them a lot and has never had a problem. Even the rooster, Suspect, is a gentle giant. They are 5 1/2 months old. Here's a pic of him and a few of his girls...

Here is a Dark Brahma pullet at about 13 weeks, we call her Frosty because her head and throat are very white compared to the others we have...

Here's one of Frosty and another pullet of the same age. Haven't named the other 4 'cause I can't tell them apart

(there's a Dominique in there too) ...

Don't know if this will give you a better perspective on size or not, but this is Suspect with a couple other of "his" girls... (and I like to show them off, too)

I also have Dominiques, Bantam Dark Cornish and a Cochin. The Brahmas are BY FAR my favorites. They are not only BIG, they are beautiful, calm and curious. I've got a few other roosters out there, and Suspect is the least aggressive of them all. I will always have some variety of Brahma in my coop.

They have a fantastic article all about Brahmas in the new backyard poultry magazine!~ You really should get it. The article is three pages long with GREAT info in it. It's the August/September issue volume 3 number 4....also has great info on eggs and pics of different shaped eggs and what may be wrong if they lay these eggs. Great articles in this one!

ttrjpbcz, one advantage to the darks I forgot to mention. The darks are the only color of the three where the cockerel is colored differently from the pullets. By 6 weeks, 8 at the latest, you'll be able to tell if you have any baby roos.
