<-- I mean, really, we have a smilie dedicated to feeling like crud in the morning. So clearly, I am not the only one.

I need to eat more breakfast but I find the challenge of even remotely doing anything productive involving food before 2 hours of wakey time to be more than enough to get nothing done. The act of frying an egg seems like so much effort. Everything is heavier in the morning and I don't want to have to lug the giant metal pan from the second to bottom shelf and heave the heavy eggs into the side to crack the 4" thick hard as rock shells against the evil heavy pan of death. Not to mention I'm at that 'not another fried egg' stage of owning hens.

So. Breakfast. I was thinking recipes I can make the night/days before? Like breakfast bars or, what I used to do but the small crockpot broke was put steel-cut oats in the night before with chopped home-dried fruit and honey. Things like that! I want recipes for stuff where the next morning I can just eat what I made (oh and I'm not too fond of sugary things, either - so muffins never really work for me) without having to go through the TORTURE of being awake before coffee. TORTURE. It's illegal in 25 countries. I heard America once got into big trouble for torturing Saudis by denying them coffee. True facts, man. True facts. (No, not really.)

I'm also at that 'sick of quiche and frittattas' point of owning hens hahahahaha. BUT! My new houseguests were BEGGING for a spinach and onion quiche yesterday and I just got a gorgeous delivery of organic red spinach..........

and I've been awake 2 hours. *toddles off*

Bacon sandwich - or as they are called in the UK, bacon butty! Fry up some bacon whenever you have the energy, zap in microwave to warm it, cut open a good tasting, soft roll or bun, spread a little mayo on it if you want, top with the bacon and a thin slice of cheese, toast or warm in microwave to melt the cheese.

Yummmmmm! and good with that second cup of coffee.

Elizabeth, I feel your pain. I am a very slow starter in the morning too.

I have no yummy solutions to a quick ready-made breakfast. But sometimes the night before I have to get up extra early to exercise, I make a smoothie out of
1. yogurt
2. skim milk
3. half scoop of protein powder or Slimfast or similar
4. thawed strawberries that I keep in the freezer
5 and/or cut-up banana

I just take it out of the fridge and gulp.
