Breaking a broody hen

Can you break a broody hen by taking her out of the nest and putting her on roost after dark every night?

No, you need to put her into a metal crate with no real bottom but wire and that way her belly can cool off!
broody hens need the belly to cool to break the cycle.......

Just to update I put three eggs under her and I'm gonna let her sit. That puts me up to 27 eggs either under a hen or in the incubator. The first 6 under my bantem chochin are due to hatch this Thursday. Then I'll have some due every week for the next two weeks as well after that.

You could also just give her chicks from the incubator after they hatch.

If you have a Broody? Remove her to a crate with enough room for food and water....let her set in private.......build a nest and put in the eggs.....walk away for awhile and she will settle on her nest ....
