Breda Fowl thread

Pics
I got mine from H&H Rare Breed Poultry in PA. I went to go buy all their silkies and saw like 30 Breda chicks in their brooder and begged the fiancé to let me get 2 lol. We walked away with 12 chickens.

We didn't get a single person to commit to buy a Breda chicks from us this spring even though we were offering them for a ridiculously low price. So we only hatch a dozen for our self to add to our laying flock. We however slowly were talked out of our Breda chicks one-by-one by people who saw them in the brooder next to the Black Copper Marans or Euskal Oiloa they came to pick up. Breda have got to be the cutes baby chicks you could find. Everyone wants a baby Breda chick when they see them. There is just something about them that makes everyone beg to buy one. :)

Anyways, two of my 12 eggs developed blood rings. But, I've got 10 very nicely developing peepers!! Sooo excited!

Just a question, where did you all buy your eggs/chicks? I purchased mine off of ebay from a user Polybiss.

Same here, I purchased from the same buyer on ebay and amazingly got one of the best hatches I've had from shipped eggs. I got 9 of 11 to hatch! I got 6 blues, 2 blks, and a splash. BUT Unfortunately the 2 blacks, splash, and 1 blue died, so left with all blues- 2 Roos and 3 hens so I was satisfied. Now ill see the quality as they mature...

So true. Almost everyone leaves our farm with at least one Breda, and they where usually coming for something else.

Do you know the reason they died?

Not completely sure. I did move when they were about 3 weeks old and changed there brooder to a big plastic tote. And they had to be put in a cellar wth the heat lamp but it was very humid/moist and cold down there:( Every few days one would just start acting week and slow. The tote is like 3ftX1.5ft and 15in tall so I know there was plenty of space.
