Looks like your Silkie Breda mixes are going to have Breda nostrils. Cute little buggers! So the mommas are not pure Silkie?

I can't wait to see what your Mottled Breda offspring will look like! With the pretty Mottled roo and dark hens I hope you get more dark mottling in the pullets' tail feathers. I've seen so many varied photos of mottling and just like the Blues I've found I prefer the darker Blues and the darker Mottleds. Do you have a preference?

The silkie mix mommas are not pure, so it's going to be cool to see how the babies turn out.

The bredas, I have one chick with a white tail so I'm hoping that one feathers out mottled, tge other 3 have black little tail feathers so I think those 3 will be more black with a bit of mottling. I am taking tons of pics too. The silkie mixes don't have full breda nostrils, more like a bit of them. None of the silkie chicks are growing silkie feathers that I can see, tge mom's have silkie down but not the chicks

How well does this breed fly? With regards to the height of the run fence, etc

They're probably poor foragers because of the feathered feet? Do they dig a lot?

Welcome to the Breda fowl thread! Breda fly just like any other smooth-feathered chicken breed. Except I've noticed that Breda like to stick close to buildings or the familiar yard rather than stick their nose into unfamiliar surroundings. When I work digging in the yard our Breda is right there at the shovel along with the Silkies digging and scratching for worms. All my chicken breeds have feathered legs/feet and are free-range so their toe feathers wear down from scratching and foraging but that's normal..

Blue Breda and Partridge Silkie

Blue Breda loves waiting for the hoe to stop moving so she can dig in the dirt

Industrious Blue Breda foraging in the container pot while other birds are foraging on the ground

Breda are kind flockmates to other docile breeds and are NON-combative

Our Cuckoo Breda likes coming in the front yard with the Silkies to scratch for insects.

The Silkies are very comfortable around Bredas

I love this goofy photo of the Cuckoo Breda as she strolls by while the Silkies are strolling opposite. Love her vulture hocks and triangle tassle with no comb. Lovely temperament in the Breda that really surprised us and the prolific egg-laying turned out a bonus for us!

Mine dig like the others, they stay close to the coop and shed, deck, and don't fly away. 2 of mine are semi feral and they don't fly away . They have been here since November and I keep all new hens locked up for a month with my others so they know the coop is home before I let them free range.
Mine too are very docile, they do not pick fights nor cause any trouble. They are very inquisitive and follow me around
