Breda Fowl thread

Here's 'Trouble' - the runt of my babies. About half dead thanks to the PO. Now peeping, eating &drinking also nesting on my shoulders!
Yeah the post office can be jerks sometimes most of the usps workers don't care about anyone's packages and even live animals I hope I don't have problems with the po myself this time anyway how many did u get and what colors

I do too. I'm just happy they didn't take longer!

I'm glad too, because I know what care you dedicate to your birds and we don't need USPS errors. After I've been requesting breeders to scrawl on the shipping box on both sides I've had faster deliveries. Otherwise USPS and FedEx Air slaps so many stickers/labels on the box the postal people don't pay attention to the machine labels but the large handwritten notes to call customer for pickup with the phone number catches their attention.

I blocked my telephone number except for the area code but the breeder's writing was nice and eye catching. The transports slap so many labels on the box that the "LIVE BIRDS" logo even gets covered up!

I am trying to find our who has hatching eggs available this spring. I am getting a new incubator soon with all the bells and whistles. I have been debating what breed to settle with. I have some Olive Eggers that I have been learning the ropes with before tackling a rare breed. Since I have to keep my flock around 12 I wanted one that lays well but is flashy too. I just love the Breda's style. I am in TN. I like all the color patterns.

If your Olive Eggers are from gentle Easter Eggers they should be gentle flockmates for the docile Breda.. But if your Olive Eggers are from Cream Legbars and Marans or Welsummers I can't vouch that the docile Breda would go well with those OE mixes. On BYC you can PM RFR of CA and chicken danz as they are two reliable breeders that I've received Breda from. Possiblly Dutch Connection. But I'm sure others may chime in with suggestions also.

RFR of CA is in Calif (Mottled Breda)
chicken danz is in the Midwest (Blue/Black/Splash Breda)
Dutch Connection I think is in Pennsylvania (Cuckoo, Black, Splash Breda) (some Mottled?)

If I look at tail feathers today, all 4 breda chicks have downward shaped tails. 2 are bigger then the other 2, but I have a feeling all 4 are roos..that would be my luck. Thank goodness I have 4 hens out in the coop. Now once these chicks get old enough to definitely tell I'll keep maybe 2 roos and sell the other two if they are roos. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I have at least 1 female in the bunch.
