Chicken Fam!

I need some advice. I have had a chick hatch breech! I came across him by accident as he was in an incubator of eggs that I thought were not going to hatch. When I found him, he had his bum out with the tips of his wings out, mind you these parts of his body were dry. I assisted in a hatch and have placed him back in the incubator to dry off the rest of his body but he his just sitting in the incubator with his head hung and the tip of his beak resting against the floor of the incubator, not really laying down like other chicks would. Is this a neck issue, or is this just from being all cramped the wrong way in the egg? Is the best thing to do just let him rest and give him a day or two? Considering he is part dry can I take him out and put him under a heat lamp on his own?

Thanks guys✌🏼

I've had this happen many times - in my last hatch too actually. I haven't had one that weak before.

Acutally yes I have a couple years ago. I left it in the incb and it was fine, but it took three days to be strong enough to walk. It ended up been fine - until a wild cat ate it when it was 3 weeks old. But whatever.

Crazy Chicken Keeper, that is horrible! I hate a chick raised by my hen who had a rough start too and a Python ended up getting in an eating her when she was a few months old so I know that feeling!

Python? That's a snake right?

I had a chick who had an NDE and he died of pasty butt :hit

Yep, Carpet Pythons. We have them here in Australia! Seeks shelter, warmth and an easy meal. I'm not sure how many I have had to move on from our property. Beautiful snakes but a menace.

Aw, that is really sad. A NDE experience will do that to you!!
