Hi! My chicks are 8 wks old and I’m trying to figure out what breed and gender they are. I believe I have 3 Easter Eggers (if you have any idea what mix they might be I’d love to hear!) and 1 silkie but I’m not positive. I think one EE might be a rooster but I have no clue about my silkie. Any ideas welcome 🤗

Yep, I agree! I think all of your suspicions are correct! The silkie does look like a cockerel as well :)

Thanks for the response! Just wondering, what makes the silkie seems like a cockerel?

Well, the size of the comb, shape of the crest, and its posture are all hints, but silkies are known to be one of the hardest breeds to sex so it’s still pretty tricky sometimes.

#1 rooster, EE no doubt
#2 pullet, EE no doubt
#3 pullet and no doubt there's EE in there, but the feather coloration and a comb that doesn't look super pea-comby almost looks like she could be mixed with a barred rock.
#4, I have no idea. I've never raised silkies. But have fun with that! 😂

Any updated photos?

I have male and female silkies and based on its size and posture your silkie is definitely cockerel! All of my females never stand so tall and raise their necks high , they walk differently as well. Pretty boy I love the color !
