Breed and gender please

Breed please? I received this one today and I'm not sure what exactly it is and neither did they. I tried counting the toes but too covered in filth and also wanting to know being its so young, how I can safely remove the sticky filth on it. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

A lot of breeds look alike as chicks so there's no way to tell at this point. If you post again in 4-5 weeks, someone should be able to help you!

Also, is it always sitting like that with its eyes closed? From the picture it looks like it may be sick... :/

Well this whole morning it does appear sick. It wasn't moving hardly. All I have and am able to use is what I have is the pro biotic and the antibiotic and I'm trying to give it some egg yolk but it won't swallow it. I gave it some applesauce and it went down a little better. The enviorment its and has been completely sanitized, warm and proper ventilation. I don't understand what could be going on. I'm not sure what other options I have and how often I should continue to do the tube feeding through ought the day.

I agree about it not being well, I'd say either sick or chilled. Do you have a heat lamp for it? Is it the only one? They don't do well by themselves and it's too young to put in with the other ones.
You can use warm water and a blowdryer (on warm setting) to clean her up.

I have brought chicks back from the brink of death with a little egg yolk mixed with the water soluble chick vitamins/electrolytes.

I'm afraid it's too late Stupid me thought the egg yolk had to be cooked. No wonder it wouldn't go down. I did everything else I could do and now I know the one thing tat could of helped her survive was the one thing I could've done right but didn't.

I'm so sorry you lost her, Don't be too hard on yourself. Even an experienced person can't save them all. She looked pretty bad in the picture, there probably wasn't much you could have done.

Shame on the seller for selling an obviously sick chick.

I'd like to get some from hatcheries withough having the large expense of shipping. Plus I only need no more than a couple.

I use to order large amounts and split the order & shipping with a friend or family member. I don't buy from The farm store or TSC because a lot of the time things are getting sold as something else entirely. I don't think this forum would be half its size if TSC/farm stores didn't make all the mistakes they do.

Now I'm an addict and keep the entire order of 50+ just for myself
