Any idea as to what breed/mix she is? The hatchery said americauna but obviously not. I’ve always had RIRs, orphingtons, barred rocks and sex links and knew nothing about americaunas, so I had no idea what to look for and just said sure bc she’s beautiful. She has green legs but no muffs or beard.

I can take new pics today.

Americana is Easter Egger.

Easter Eggers vary alot in appearance, they can be bearded, beardless, pea combed, rose combed, single combed, walnut combed, have yellow, green, or slate legs, fluffy to tight feathered, can be any color/pattern, occasionally have light leg feathering, a Crest, & can lay any color egg.

Thank you so much! I was thinking that as well after a lot of research but wanted to ask y’all for a more thorough answer.
You're welcome.

The most common EEs are bearded, but there's more variation then what's usually shown on the internet.

That’s what I’ve always looked for, is the beard or cheeks. I figured she is just a barnyard mix. She’s my sweet Reba. It’ll be neat to see if she does lay a colored egg.
She may lay colored, she may not.
Update on her egg when she lays?

Yeah, beard is very prevalent, but isn't always the best feature to look out for.

My EEs didn't start laying until close to 10 months. So, you may still have awhile to wait.
Oh wow!! That’s crazy. My old flock started around 5 months but they were different breeds. We just started a new flock a few months ago and have blue australorps, buff orphingtons, barred rocks, black sex links, light and dark brahamas and Reba (haha). My roo is from a neighbor and then my dark brahama is a roo. My 4 chicks (4weeks) are blue wing red laced wyandottes and a BCM (a roo). Loving my new flock. Pics of my girls and boys ❤️

:goodpost:

Agreed. Ameraucana is a breed with named color varieties and an SOP. Americana is a fancy way of saying "Easter Egger".

IMO it's wrong to sell them as colored egg layers when they might not lay blue or green, but it's become the custom so we just have to play the guessing game. :(
Right! I wasn’t sure about her but she was so pretty, I wasn’t leaving without her hehe ❤️
