Breed???? Gender????

they sent my mother mistakenly this bird with her order instead of the one she originally ordered because they apparently had run out .
Does anyone know what type of chicken this is and if it's a rooster or a pullet?

I believe it is a Dominique. I think cockerel, too, but if you could post a picture of the spot on the back of its head, that would help.

They are a sexable breed at hatch, so look:

Look at her feather pattern. It was dark and slight irregular. Yours has thick, clean lines and is a very tall chick with a large comb.

Ah. Good point. I didn’t see that.
My point about the barring remains the same, they are cousin breeds.

Looks like a female barred rock. Single comb and yellow legs. (do dominiques have pink legs? i think that they do lol)

I agree it looks like a barred rock pullet. It was very tricky identifying the comb in the first photos.
