Breed Guesses for EE Roo

[8 Chicks 1967]

Gonna give a wild guess and that's all it is. Black copper Maran/ Black sex link and black or self Blue Ameraucana . He has the right comb,shank color,Muff and beard for the Amerauana. Looks like a copper Maran or at least a BSL. Most likely his mom or dad Was NOT an EE. Most not all but most EE's have yellowish to Green/Willow shanks. He is def not even close to a Ameraucan color but he has all the traits. Petty EE boy with the Blue egg gene for sure. Our boy has a lot of his dads traits. He was a white Chantecler . he has the cushion comb,yellow shanks, he is almost 9lbs and has the white leakage. Now for his mom, i'm lost. He is twice the size of our Lavender Amerucana hens. Poor girls.

@8 Chicks, aw thanks! That's funny because I didn't think of BCM but that's what out favorite rooster was and I really like the mahogany coloring. Sex Link is a good guess too. We have a couple of Blue Marans hens now and can maybe make some olive eggers in the future.

I thought I'd update this thread because our EE rooster has remained a gentleman with no bad habits, which is always a good thing. I bred him EE to EE with my hens, who are blue eggers. I'm hoping for more blue eggers, but I know that depends on what genes they all carry. I also have more eggs in the incubator from crossing him with Blue Copper Marans and some of my other brown egg laying hens. I'm hoping for some different shades of olive eggs from those to add some green to my egg basket, but I won't find out until spring! I know he's just an EE but he has a nice broad back and a gentle disposition. If any of his progeny aren't keepers, they can be eaters instead. Here is an updated photo of him and some of his kids. For the most part they are normal EE colors and look like their moms. They all have beards and muffs. So far he's had no sons, but probably in this next batch.

Oops, I forgot one. There are two like this but they aren't exactly the same.
