Breed help

Ok just one more...my Seramas (pics above) lay almost daily and we eat the eggs all the time, it just takes an extra egg or two.

The hens are good moms and go broody if you want more chicks! They eat little and take up less space, and they make smaller messes..a LOT smaller! Ok good luck!!

What about Dutch chickens? I'm looking them up and they seem to mature even smaller than the old english. is that true?
Is there something about them that makes them not suited to my wants?

If you are looking for a prolific egg layer coturnix quail will do best as they lay better than most chickens. I used to raise Japanese bantams and they laid very well (white eggs) and they are tiny and have the look of the seramas without the cost. They are also cold hardy.

You can find pet quality seramas really cheap or free. They are very personable. Mine lay every day or every other day and are good broodies that brood a lot.
