Hello all, im new to chickens and im curious about breed mixing. Im familiar with sex links to a certain extent. So my question is maybe simple for most but im unclear. I currently have RIR roosters and leghorn hens, i also a have black sexlinks hen, if my rir mates with my black sexlink what would the offspring be? I am also curious of what a leghorn rooster mated with a rir hen would be. Thanks

The RIR over the bsl should give you birds that look pretty much like the bsl hen, just with more red leakage. I think males and females would be the same basic colors, with the males having more leakage. You'll have a variety from almost all black to a lot of red with some black.

Are your Leghorns white? If so, they're usually dominant white, which means they don't do well for a sex link cross as the white can be masking a host of other colors. A white Leghorn rooster over RIR hens will give mostly white offspring with some red or black flecks.
