Breed Please?

We were pretty sure on sex of Apple, and obviously for Nugget. It’s pretty traumatic for my daughter (she is 20 but is the chicken whisperer). No more chicks for us, even that 20% possibility of mistake in sexing is to upsetting.

Oh no! I'm sorry. I'm pretty certain these are both boys you've got here, but gorgeous boys at that! Why don't you try sex linked breeds? Then you won't have nearly the issue with ending up with unwanted roosters.

In town we can only have 5 hens, we figured out of 5 what was the chance of 2 roosters, lol. Of course that’s our luck. Nugget started last week crowing so we found him a place first. I do believe we have someone for Apple as well but need to message a bit and check out the setting. I hate the idea of finding homes of course, but the town makes the rules and for now it is what it is.

I will need to research the sex linked breeds as you suggest if we do decide to add 2 hens. Honestly it’s been 35 years since I have had chickens, it’s coming back slowly. We have a 5 x 10 covered pen with a ramp going up to a smaller coop, they get to run the entire yard about 2-3 hours a day.

The good thing is with Roos that lovely you shouldn't have trouble rehoming them!

I can totally see the bielefelder resemblance I just think it's more likely that a person end up with something like a rainbow hybrid or meat chicken than a bielefelder and not know what it is.
I never thought of that :lau. That would be hilarious to turn out with a breed like that out of random chance :lau
