Crowing
Marans and Cream Legbar are the next breeds to get on my list. I keep looking at various hateries and most seem to be out or limited stock with availability in October. I have to keep reminding myself there will be another spring. I do not have to get them all the first year, lol.I contacted Hoover's Hatchery and they were quick to reply. They confirmed that they're black copper marans. This makes me happier as I lost my black majestic marans a few weeks ago to unknown circumstances. She was constantly broody and a little sweetheart all the time. She'd stand up so I could collect eggs, never pecked me once. I had promised her a few to hatch come fall, then found her gone. I've had Cuckoo Marans that were mean and even meaner when broody on eggs. I let one hatch an egg, she tried killing the chick, every time it was out of her sight to eat/drink, she attacked him, hurting him. I had no choice but to remove her. He grew into a beautiful rooster.
Hopefully by February they'll be laying some beautiful dark brown eggs.
