Haha Yep that is a beautiful Heritage Strain of New Hampshires and much better than hatchery strains I've seen and they should definitely be shared with others who are wanting to breed and preserve Heritage breeds.

Do you have any pics of their eggs Kathy ?

Oh, you all are so sweet. I really appreciate your posts. Thanks so much.

The breeder I bought these from is just a great guy, and he gets all the credit. Doug Akers is his name. He's super! He set me up really nicely with this group.

These birds are such great layers, too. I have 4 pullets and have been getting 4 eggs a day nearly every day. They just amaze me. I really couldn't ask for more. They are sweet and friendly birds, pretty to look at (to me at least), and great layers. I think their size is good and they should produce some good meat birds, I hope. I am just real happy with them, and would love to share them.

Caveat emptor (buyer beware). I think many of the responses indicate that people would love to be where you're at as a starting point with that breed. So long as you're honest about your inexperience with these birds I don't think anybody could reasonably take offense if the eggs didn't produce SQ. I think anybody who's interested in actually raising and breeding a quality line of birds has to understand that it's not a simple as just sourcing hatching eggs from good parent stock. If I were in the market for NH, it would be enough for me to know that the genetics of those parents were in the eggs I was buying. I understand I may have to breed a few generations before I get somewhere.
