This is a gal that's born to a Brahma× Silkie cross (that's in the beginning of this thread). Note the tiny crest. This was the only one from the batch to have a comb. I'm keeping it as a reserve incase the spitz doesn't work (I hope two genes won't make the crest too big either). She has the small crest+ pea comb which is my option B.
And here's a white faverolles from the same guy I picked my whites from years ago. Great laying strain, small beard and grow both quickly and mature to weights comparable to some mod sized Brahma's. I got him to see if I can fix these genes into my birds and breed out the white colour. Would also add some unrelated blood. What say you, guys?
Also, the strain is probably a hybrid of some other breed, I know cause they don't have five toes, and their white is dominant unlike that of white faverolles. But this particular thing works out in my favour- I'm not looking for five toes (I think it makes the hens a bit slow while running, but I'll let you be the judge of that - the roosters are anyway clumsy once they get long spurs), and breeding out dominant white is easier...
You can see him with some Brahmas at the back for size comparison.
Funny how two separate genotypes can come up with the same colour on roosters!
Behind is a dark red shouldered Brahma, that I'm now giving away to a cousin.
Front is a Salmon Faverolles that I shall use next with a few crosses. The Faverolles will get his own coop now!
