Breeding Aseels

Pics
Could you also show the close up of your hen. In what direction is her tail?
The hen is 7/8 Rampuri Aseel x 1/8 Gowdy Jap. Her tail is usually horizontal although she has ability to raise it up a bit, but not like an American Game / wild Jungle Fowl. The Gowdy Jap is under 50% American Game with the balance being made up of some combination of Shamo and possibly an Aseel. I am OK with lack of purity on her side as it brings in needed heterozygosity.

Tail as high up as it goes. She not pure.

They are definitely going to have different feather patterns... it will be interesting to see how they look as adults.

One thing I like about some of the oriental gamefowl is how fierce they look as they mature. As sub-adults they remind me of prehistoric terror birds. Almost dinosaur-like. Your birds have that look.

I will be keeping a couple pullets from the mating to breed back to their father next spring. By then, all improper tail issues will be diluted, if not selected out.

Getting the hen back into lay has been slow. No eggs from her for over 2 weeks.

I am thinking of getting chicks of this lakha pair which are shown in this video:
(The breeder uploads videos of his breeders/breeding stock on to YouTube)

I have had the same problem, my hens lay so little eggs it is kind of frustrating, my hens will lay 12-20 eggs and get broody and then if I decide to put eggs under them it will takes them at least 4-5 months to hatch and raise the chicks, and after I separate the chicks from the hens it takes them 2-3 weeks to start laying again. If I don’t put eggs under my hens when they get broody it takes about 1-2 weeks for them to start laying. The biggest problem I have had is that sometimes my hens will randomly stop laying and won’t even get broody.
