Breeding Aseels

That is more than a bill deformity. Bird will have serious issues later. He will likely always need feed from a pile.

Not saying solely a bill deformity overall. Otherwise it wouldn’t make sense for me to point out his other issues. Solely a lower bill deformity relative to his hooked upper bill. His upper bill would probably be normal or close to it if his lower bill was normal I would guess. I think its growing downward because there isn’t much of a lower bill to direct its growth otherwise. When I first noticed the growth of his bill I was hoping it was a mutation of the upper bill.

For reference, then I see no further reason to discuss it:

Two weeks:

Normal feeding. No noticeable growth difference than from broodmates. Aggressive over other black/white chick.

Three weeks:

Between week 2 and 3 the tongue relocated to below the jaw in the throat. Stance began to change. Noticeably thinner legs than broodmates. Less development of feathers on the neck. Submissive to other chicks. Decision to cull made on week three.

I am still having issues with eye color that went from pearl to yellowish and now approaching orange. Eyes still not red like most of my American Games, but not what I expect either.

Things have calmed down here. Let’s see if I can stir the pot;

What is she? I know what she’s said to be but only from a very reputable and successful gamefowl breeder.
I’m curious as to what she is, from my perspective it doesn’t matter what name is put on her, I really only care about the quality of her offspring and, I’m sure her influence will have to be cut for my needs.

Looks like we are going to get our first half Aseel. The little dude treaded on a grey game hen. I told my boy all males will be grey and females will likely be black or something close to it. In a couple days we will switch hen over to a grey cock so we can use markers to determine daddy.

Looks like the hen is about to go broody. She is spending more time on nest and the stag no longer escorting her while foraging. If she is on nest tonight, then hatch date will be calculated from today. She has either 6 or 7 eggs.

I've been busy culling grown fowl. 7 in the past 3 days. I think I have 4 or 5 kelso stags which would be good cause a few can be tested without risk of losing any potential breeders
I wont derail your oriental post
