Could i keep some chickens inside a coop for breeding purposes? its a good space with good light and plenty of room. i keep most my birds free range so i feel weird about it.

How much space (square feet), how many birds, windows, how long do you plan to confine (do you need to "cleanse" hen(s) of unwanted biological materiel from other roosters....add 30 days)

Hello! Welcome to BYC! I feel like a lot of people do keep hens/roosters in coops. If they have lots of room, good light and ventilation it would work well. As long as its kept clean enough.

Mine don't free-range. They have a coop with an attached run that is predator proof, and the rooster is breeding the hen's. My egg's are fertile, so I know he's doing his job.

    Hello Barns.
    Welcome to BYC.
Millions of chickens are kept in barns of one description, or another.
You would only need to keep those you want to breed in the barn for a relatively short time to breed them.
