Hey Morninggloryhatchery,
What did you ever decide? I wanted to mention that you could just get some quality Amerauncana chickens (or just a Roo)
They are much cheaper than pure Arauncana chickens and much better layers. When you buy, make sure they are nice blue egg layer, or buy blue eggs (as opposed to greenish) to hatch.
I have my EEs from a hatchery, thus Mutts. I recently had my Buff Orp go broody, and had 8 hatching eggs shipped to me. Most made chicks, but only 3 lived past the first days. (huge thunderstorm, hen only 7 months old, hatched eggs in with other hens, etc.)
The eggs were beautiful sky blue, and from a breeding group of Black/Blue/Splash pure bred Ameraucanas. My 3 little chicks are now a week old.
I'm hoping one is a Roo, as I'll use him to upgrade my flock of EEs. My flock will still be considered Easter Eggers (unless I set up a breeding pen with only these chicks in it; they would produce more pure bred Ameracaunas, of course.)
