I'll be fine. After something like 9 years, my partner and I have made a complete, total split. Don't worry about Rafael...dad liked him and left him a gob of cash plus he as a very good career with excellent benefits. We have been together since high school and have out-grown each other. Would you please copy and paste this to Christine and ask her to do the same for Linda?

Thanks a lot. You and I are still good and in line for your White Chantecler babies late next summer! :D

Bob update - sorry will get a weight on him tonight.

Bob is F1 50% Dark Cornish BamBam son, Mom was a McMurray Cornish Roaster - Not by my hen Betty.

Bob is with 6 F2 pullets 3/4 Dark Cornish.

Okay, I'm back to incubation. My first (4) F3 eggs are in the incubator! These are out of my F2 3/4 DC pullets Bob/Marion born in February. Bred to F1 pure DC cockerels born in Feb. They may or may not be fertile, but what the heck huh? I am excited to see if they perk.

Approximately 8kg each bird depending on the breed you are using and the pen/enclosure.
Sorry, 160, 50kg bags for 1000 chickens.

Math: 1,000 birds x 8kg = 8000kg/50kg bags = 160 50kg bags.

.
I know the answer to this. I have been studying it for months. Check out the websites All About Feed ( poultry) and the website WorldPoultry . Choose one of the new feed supplements (Biomin is one company) and include it in their feed in the recommended ratios. Feed the birds within 6 hours of hatch. This is very important. The concept is called "Early Feed" and has been shown in several studies to increase yield in the birds at slaughter.
Choose a feed supplement which includes both probiotics and the usual vitamin/mineral supplements.
WorldPoultry and AllAbout Feed are online e-zines which collate and distribute the scientific articles and studies about how to raise healthy broilers ( and layers) without antibiotics. The push is to enhance the G.I. tract at the very earliest age to increase disease resistance and enhance yield at slaughter. The results the commercial industry is seeing are remarkable in their advancements in these fields. Would the backyard breeder see such advances in their small yields? yeah, but the bigger producers like yourself will really see a difference according to the studies.
Best,
Karen
Is it this one?

Naturally ahead in poultry gut health!

PoultryStar
00ae.png
is a well-defined, multi-species synbiotic product that promotes a beneficial gut microflora through the combined action of carefully selected probiotic microorganisms and prebiotic fructooligosaccharides. PoultryStar
00ae.png
is designed to improve gut health and to make day old chicks and birds of all ages more resistant to pathogens.

Purpose
An improved gut microflora is known to play a significant role in protecting day old chicks and birds of all ages against colonization by pathogenic bacteria. Under commercial conditions a great deal of effort is placed in sanitary practices. For example, preventive measures at the hatchery to protect day old chicks from early exposure to pathogens. However, sanitary practices also reduce the number of beneficial bacteria from the environment leaving day old chicks vulnerable to intestinal opportunistic pathogens.
PoultryStar

will help the bird to establish and maintain a beneficial gut microflora through the synergistic action of probiotics and prebiotics leading to improved parameters and increased profits.

Mode of action
The probiotic strains used in PoultryStar
00ae.png
were specifically selected for their ability to maintain a healthy gut microbial population under challenging environmental conditions. The prebiotic fructooligosaccharides serve as a nutrient source for beneficial bacteria. PoultryStar
00ae.png
demonstrated the best efficacy in the inhibition of pathogenic microorganisms which is based on mechanisms like:
  • Acidification of the gut
  • pH reduction
  • Production of antimicrobial substances
  • Competition with pathogenic bacteria for space, intestinal attachment sites and nutrients
  • Modulation of the immune system
Main benefits
  • Fast establishment of a beneficial gut microflora
  • Inhibition of enteric pathogens
  • Improved weight gain
  • Improved feed conversion
  • Decreased mortality
  • No negative side effects, no withdrawal times
