I like your visitor so much better than mine. Mine was a hawk looking for a chicken dinner...and me without my shotgun in hand.

Not sure about sulmtalers, but I usually either have white or black showing after a molt in my chickens. Hope this helps . Nice looking bird.Hey y'all! So, we've started planning out whose going in what breeding pens for our Sulmtalers. However, I'm hesitant about moving forward with my Wheaten pullet because of some weird coloring on her neck / wings, she's at 13 weeks. Is Wheaten something that improves after a molt? We're trying to stick to the Sulmtaler SOP without Sacrificing the DP qualities we've seen so many rave about so far. I'm loving their temperments so far.
Here are some of the better reference pictures I can find of her coloring so far:
It's best not to judge coloring before they molt into their adult plumage. Typically they molt their juvenile plumage around 16 weeks or pretty close to it. I would wait until she's 20 weeks before judging color.Hey y'all! So, we've started planning out whose going in what breeding pens for our Sulmtalers. Gearing up for the weekend. I plan to butcher all of my "extra" cockerels this weekend. It's only half a dozen of them, but my back is already aching in anticipation of the work. What's for dinner this weekend? Chicken, of course.![]()

Fall hatch Batch#1 Big Chick update: 20 days and 489g
F2 generation of 50%DC x 50%CX "Bob" over 50%DC x 50%CX "Pebbles"
Looks like the 25% chance for CX phenotype won out on this chick.
This chick has 6 days to gain 271g just 45.17g per day no problem right?
Auggie chick #123 6/16/16 was 26 days and 760g so fat he barely fit on the scale.
