BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

I can't afford to buy Packaged greens for my birds. So I sprout Plotspike Forage OAts. Feed the birds 1cubic inch per day for large fowl of 4-7 day old sprouted oats.

Quote: I started during molt, and just never stopped. Just make sure to check the dates on the bags. In my experience, the freshness of the feed can be more important than the brand if one is old/stale. I've found that each TSC is a little different depending on how often a certain type of feed moves. (The date it was bagged is on the sealing strip at the bottom.)

Well I brushed my self off and set some eggs today, 27 chicken eggs, mostly the English Orpington eggs from Bobbi but a few of my own, a couple from my BO hens out of the BO Roo I lost, and a couple EE's in my new incubator.
I have the first 6 eggs outa my turkeys in my old one I set them 4 days ago. Test run to see if they were fertile. There is high demand for the turkeys, and fertile turkey eggs. I only had two turkey hens laying, so I will start collecting them in a couple weeks when there are more hens laying and set a bigger batch after the chickens hatch.
Fingers and feathers crossed for a good hatch, and the future of our chickens.

Yellow chicks are from our CX hen and a white Jersey Giant cockerel.

We got the foundlings some friends today. Got some cx chicks from TCS tried to pick some girls but who knows, just wanted to hedge my bet of getting some girls to grow out. I am sure Tank won't live past our insane summers. The boys will be processed when old enough.
