BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

I almost hate to post this

............................................................................ who am a kidding, this is blatant bragging right here ............................. It is 70 and sunny here!!!!!

We do generally have severe Winters but by and large, this has been a very mild one. I wouldn't exchange one week of West Virginia Summer evenings for a whole Spring season in OK. It's rare that a blanket doesn't feel pretty good after dark in the mid- July or August.

Amen to that! I've had to pull out the winter coats to watch the 4th of July fireworks before. I'll take cool springs and summers over warm winters any ol' day. Maybe that's why we love living in this mountain state, huh? Winter is just one season~ and I don't even mind our winters as I don't feel they are excessively cold~...it's the other three seasons that make it all worthwhile.

It isn't ness. for the chicks, adding honey to water is done for shipped chicks to give them a little extra energy from the stress of being shipped and are usually a couple of days past hatch w/o food or water. Giving a "new born" a laxative even a weak one can have negative effects. Home hatched or broody hatched don't have the same stress and don't need the additives. If you feel you must add something add vitamins, that doesn't add any stress to the chicks.

Agreed! Even a bit of apple cider vinegar would be better than molasses...molasses is what you give to human babies if they are constipated and need to have a poop! That's a good recipe for pasty butt if I ever heard one.

I could NEVER survive your winters, seriously.  I am convinced every year I won't survive ours.  I am nearly always cold.  I bring a coat to work w/ me all year long including our summers of 100+ degrees b/c of air conditioning inside.

I view 50 F as the coldest temps for human living! lol

It gets down on the teens here in the winter of not colder

That's shorts and T-shirt weather here...seriously. That's the temps I start sleeping with the windows open all night. Last night it was in the high 30s and I had to get up at 4 am and put on my summer nightie, I was sweating so bad! Took me two hours to get back to sleep after that...can't stand to sleep hot.

At 50 I am wearing 2 coats and a sweater! (not exaggerating), my bed has multiple blankets year round. You know how it is courtesy to take someone's coat when they come to your home, well .............. you'll pry my coat out of my cold dead hands!!!!! ( I might let you take the top one if I have one on under it(

Roada it gets that cold here too, it is just when it gets below 50 I think I'm about to die from cold.

Right now as I sit and type at work the building is 73 (I can see the thermometer from here) and my hands are ice cold, my fingers are numb.
