the very best way to make an Aurosexing breed is the same way that Peace and his team did in England in the 20's and 30's... They were trying to develop breeds that could be easy to sex at hatch.... the Cambar came first...
to get the best autosexing one can use a breed that has chicks that are marked up like chipmunks... the brown red dark striping that they have... this is the order to use... it takes four years at least to get them to breed true...
and you just have to learn by looking at them what female to keep and what male to keep.... the best way i can say it... :0
to make a Hampbar this term I have seen used in Britain..., Hambar .. use a New Hampshire Red male over a barred female... this really can be any barred female... there was even a Brockbar.... that is a Buff Rock male used with a Barred Rock female... so you could stay inside the same breed .... like wheaten marans.. over cuckoo marans.....
the first cross of New Hamphiire Red over barred female you are looking for a male... this male will look very much like a Black sex link male... and the reason for that ... he is...
once you have this F1 male... you breed him back to New Hampshire Red females... this time you want barred females .. and they will be Hampbars... but the male will be wrong as they contain only one gene for barring and males need two...
so... you breed the F2 male to the barred females... yes more of less brother to sister... unless you are working with two different blood lines at once...
the male from this will be your Hampbar male... all double barred and full of himself... now that I have fully made everyone nuts.. lol have fun.. it is not as hard as it seems.. you just have to wait .... it took over 70 chicks hatched out to get that one beautiful male Roo...
